Lost Boyz - Lifestyles Of The Rich And Shameless

Released in ’96

I’ve been playing this song over and over all night. I got this cassette back in April. Side A has Lifestyles Of The Rich And Shameless & its Instrumental. Side B has Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz. Both of these songs were on their debut album called Legal Drug Money.

RIP Freeky Tah

I typed "hip hop cassettes" on YouTube and found this instrumental. I'm glad I did because it has such a smooth melody. The colorful blend of the piano and bass create such a resonating sound that makes you bob your head and want to spit a verse.

Cassette Dreamin' (Old School Lofi Hip Hop Instrumental Beat)

Mike Anthony, Right Beat Radio

This instrumental is featured by Mike Anthony who runs Right Beat Radio --- http://www.rightbeatradio.com. The YouTube link is http://www.youtube.com/user/RightBeatRadio

He collects, creates, and provides all types of hip hop instrumentals on his channel. Check it out! Trust me you won't be disappointed.

This is the very first hip hop album I ever listened to. I'm glad my cousins friend left it at my house. It was 1995 and I was five years old. Later on my Dad made me smash it because I kept replaying "your rents due motherfucker" over and over.

I still have the original cover.

Bone Thugs N Harmony

E.1999 Eternal

1st of tha Month is my favorite track off of this album. It's a timeless tune that I'll never get tired of listening to.

* RIP Eazy-E

Everyone needs to check out this dude DJ Funktual. He knows everything there is to know about hip hop samples. I’ve learned a lot from him. Schools need to have classes and teachers like this.

Check him out at http://www.youtube.com/user/funktuall

He also supports this really dope Tshirt Company, specializing in classic hip hop imagery.

Onyx Interview

This is an old ass interview in '93 from Yo! MTV Raps with the notorious rap group Onyx.

PART I

PART II

ItZ da joint!

Artist/s: Joint Ventures

itZ da joint [r-'93]

I bought this album on cassette about a year ago. These dudes seem to be unknown. I can't remember how I discovered them but I'm glad that I did.

Respect to the Lords

Just Framed my Lords of the Underground Keepers of the Funk Album

Chief Rocka is my favorite song off this album.

An old tag in the neighborhood.

I took this picture a little more than a year ago. It's been their for years. It was probably tagged during the late eighties or early nineties. I've always liked it because it captures the essence of that era surrounding hip hop and graffiti.

* I also like the bong in the bottom left haha.

You wanna front what?

Come Clean

This is just dope, plain and simple. Jeru the Damaja is one of my favorite rappers. He holds together that whole Brooklyn sound. My cousin John reminded me that not only is he a dope lyricist but DJ Premier's beats are what truly made this album (The Sun Rises in the East) successful. I encourage anyone to buy this album, you won't be disappointed.

Released in '94

My cousin was telling me how his friend bought this album back when it originally came out, and how they each came with a "Come Clean" bar of soap. I thought that was funny and decided to look it up.

Bum Stiggedy Bum Stiggedy!

I remember watching this episode awhile back and hearing this song. The song being played is They Want Efx by Das Efx. This duo is definitely a part of my top 5 favorite rap groups of all time.

There unique rhyming pattern and off the wall lyrics are what makes their sound so dope.

They’re still playing shows to this day. I play this song so much that my mom even knows the lyrics.

A Live Performance at Yo! MTV Raps in 1992.

Side Note: They sample James Brown's - Blind Man Can See it. That tune is really dope check it out through YouTube somewhere.

?uestlove & Black Thought

Black Thought is one of the greatest freestyle emcees in the history of hip hop.

The Roots are currently the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Also check out their latest album called Undun. This is their 13th album!

Watch the lyrical flow..

Remember Twista who had those big hits in 2004 like Slow Jamz and Overnight Celebrity? Well this song/video called Mr. Tung Twista is from his debut album in 1992 called Runnin’ Off at da Mouth. His name truly defines his style. I honestly have no idea what the fuck he’s saying, yet I like it.

* Also check out his song Hokus Pokus, shit is dope.

Legendary Freestyle

This was the final episode of Yo! MTV Raps in the summer of ’95.
